Travelling to Galloway Country Fair

By car:
Our postcode for SatNav is DG3 4AQ.

Drumlanrig Castle and the Queensberry Estate is situated just off the A76 (Dumfries to Kilmarnock), 17 miles north of Dumfries, and is signposted from the M74 (J14 southbound) and A702 at Abington and Elvanfoot.

From Dumfries, take the A76 north for approximately 13 miles, passing through Auldgirth, Closeburn, Thornhill and Carronbridge. The entrance for Drumlanrig and the Galloway Country Fair are clearly signposted.

There are three car parks including areas for 4WD vehicles and an accessible car park close to the show ground.

By bus:
The stagecoach 246 bus service (Dumfries-Ayr) from Dumfries in the South and Ayr in the North via Cumnock, will drop you at the Estate entrance on the A76. The walk from the Estate entrance to the Fair is approximately 1½ miles through the beautiful Estate grounds.

The X76 bus service will bring you from Glasgow to Cumnock, then change to the 246 bus service (Ayr – Dumfries) to the Estate entrance.
The 100 bus service will bring you from Edinburgh to Thornhill, then change to the 246 bus service north to the Estate entrance, or take a taxi.

By train:
The Glasgow-Dumfries-Carlisle-Newcastle train stops at Sanquhar. You would then take the 246 bus service south (Ayr-Dumfries) to the Estate entrance, or take a taxi. Coming from Carlisle, you could take the 246 bus service north (Dumfries-Ayr) from Dumfries Whitesands, or take a taxi.
