The Show
For the 10th anniversary the show moved to a new, larger and more exciting
venue being Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate.
After its humble beginnings in a farmer’s field for the first 3 events at Castle Douglas and then the last 6 years at Raehills nr Moffat, the GCF has grown and can now spread its wings at the spectacular venue of Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill, the family seat of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch & Queensberry in Dumfries & Galloway, and home to part of the renowned Buccleuch Art Collection.
We were delighted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of GCF at its new permanent home here in the stunning settings of Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate. As just a husband and wife team many regular traders and visitors will know how we have struggled through stormy weather and the recession but the show has always gone on! GCF has gone from strength to strength over the last 10 years and had outgrown two previous sites also becoming too large to handle ourselves so we made the decision to offer it to Drumlanrig Castle and are honoured to have been retained to manage it and also organise other events here and at Dalkeith Country Park.
The new venue presented exciting new challenges. The recently completed infrastructure enabled us to add a few new attractions and traders. GCF would not have come so far without the unfaltering support of our family, friends, traders and visitors over the years and now with the professional Buccleuch teams working alongside us GCF will, at last, be able to grow to its full potential!
