Terrier Racing

flyingter.jpgThe Fife and Kinross Working Terrier Club was formed in 1982 by a group of terrier enthusiasts to help rescue terriers which had become trapped under ground while being used to control foxes for local Shepherds and Game keepers, a service which the club still provides to this day all of the club members dogs are used for vermin control over the winter months.

The club members decided to hold a working terrier show over the summer to raise funds for the club and the racing display followed shortly after, a display which is now in great demand at shows all over Scotland during the summer months, during the latter years the club has had to become politically motivated due to the pressure being put on hunting and terrier work in particular from a Government that doesn’t understand our way of life.

The Club are proud to have been involved with Sarge and Jane at the Galloway fair from the start it’s a weekend we all look forward to. Club members are more than happy to talk to members of the public on any matters to do with the dogs don’t be afraid to ask its all part of the fair.

Here are the results of this year's Terrier Show competition:

Well what can I say. That was some weekend - never seen anything like it, but despite the rain and mud the Terrier Show was a great success. We had people attend from all over the UK and Northern Ireland and the general opinion was "we will be back".

Personaly I can't wait and I still think it is a smashing show in a superb setting.

See you all next year.

Malcolm, Fife & Kinross WTC
