Considerable care has been taken in the creation of Auld Laundry Cottage using the latest ecological techniques and natural materials to produce a house with a low impact on the environment and on its occupants. Enjoying seclusion and idyllically located, guests are free to walk round the estate and visit the walled garden.

Raehills is located between Dumfries and Lockerbie and Auld Laundry Cottage is also an ideal base from which to experience some of the world's best mountain biking at nearby Ae Forest 7stanes, which links directly to Raehills Estate by a bike track and many of the other 7stanes trails. The motorway is within a ten minute drive and nearby Lockerbie has a main line railway station with direct services both to Edinburgh and the South.

There is also wonderful moorland and hill country for walking, a number of historic houses such as Drumlanrig Castle are within a short drive and, for the sportsman, the area is unrivalled. Fishing and stalking on the estate can be arranged and there is also a tennis court for guests' use, subject to arrangement with the owners.
