Daily Competitions, Demonstrations, Have A Go, Prizes & More…
Buccleuch Sporting are pleased to announce a great line up of fishing throughout the two day event, with demonstration programme featuring World Fly Casting champion Hywel Morgan and a variety of events whatever your level of experience there is something for everyone. This year the area is situated on the beautiful Slatehouse Loch overlooked by Drumlanrig Castle.
The events include Accuracy and Distance Casting Competitions, Flycasting Demonstrations, Have A Go, Bag A Tag, Kids Casting Clinic and with prizes to be won this promises to be a very popular attraction.
We at Buccleuch Sporting are keen to introduce everyone to the fun of fishing and our ‘Have A Go’ will appeal to those visitors who have never before fished. This is a fun introduction to fishing so come along to test your skills and catch your first Trout here. We will also have ‘Catch Your Own’ should you wish to take a Trout home to cook for your dinner. Bag A Tag will attract those who enjoy a bit of light competition as this includes the added excitement of trying to catch a Trout with a ‘Tag’, there is a prize for the visitors with the skill to ‘Bag A Tag’.

Fishing Competitions
Held daily in a relaxed and fun atmosphere everyone is welcome to take part whether you are new to fishing or an experienced angler and with daily prizes to be won this is sure to add to the sporting excitement.
The daily competitions are:
Trout Accuracy
Men Class Ladies Class Youth Class
Trout Distance Casting
Men Class Ladies Class Youth Class
Salmon Distance Casting
Men Class Ladies Class Youth Class
Entry Fee: £2 per person
Daily Prize: 1st in each class - Fishing Gift Voucher
Demonstration - Flycasting
Hywel Morgan has been European and World Casting Championship and holds 14 British casting records who will be demonstrating various casting techniques and sharing his experience showing how easy it is to take up this wonderful pastime and proving that fishing is for everyone.
Kids Casting Clinic
This is the ideal opportunity to start your child fishing with free tuition available from the highly experienced and friendly team.
Fishing For All The Family
There will be expert advice on hand with this opportunity to ‘Have A Go’ at fishing on the Loch. Slatehouse Loch is well stocked with Trout so newcomers have a very good chance of experiencing the thrill of catching their very first Trout here at Drumlanrig Castle.
For those who would like an added challenge come and catch the Trout with the tag, ‘Bag A Tag’ and win a prize.
Should you wish to come and ‘Catch Your Own’ fish to take home for dinner or the freezer this is the event for you.
Entry Fee: £5 per person, 1 hour max fishing.
Catch and Release or the cost of the fish per Ib.
Catch Allowance: Kept fish will be charged at £5 per fish.
Booking Tent
Entry Times: Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st, 9.00am till 5.00pm.
Prizes: Winners announced daily for Bag A Tag & Competitions Sunday 5pm.
Payment: Payment accepted by cash only at the Booking Tent.
Rod Hire: Rods will be available to hire with a £20 deposit.
Any Rod damage or breakage must be paid for in full.
Hooks: Barbless hooks only allowed.
No Refunds
Before purchasing fishing tickets to any fishing event please note that queues and waiting times are expected, once purchased, refunds will not be given for any reason.
