Competitors will attempt to score as many points a they can by casting the fly at each of the three targets in turn, as many times as possible within the three minute time limit. Team members must change over after each scoring cast; one team member making the first scoring cast another team member making the second scoring cast and so on. The winner will be the team to have scored the most points within the time limit.

Casting Demonstrations

Borderlines AAPGAI qualified instructors will be providing fly casting demonstrations each day, so you wish to learn more about fly casting or want to gain some tips, come down to the loch and watch the experts. All of our instructors will hold a question and answer session following their demonstration so don’t be frightened to ask questions.

After watching the demonstrations you might like to try some of the casts yourself or gain some tips and tuition. So if you are struggling with any aspects of your fly fishing, would like to iron out any faults or bad habits, or perhaps just want to add a metre or two to your casts, then have some tuition with one of our expert Advanced Association of Game Angling Instructors in our casting clinics which will be taking place throughout the day. If you have a busy schedule at the show and don’t want to miss anything you can pre-book your preferred time slot each day – just see Chris on the Borderlines stand in the Nith Catchment Fishery Trust Tent.

The Casting Clinics run throughout both days and for adults you can have 20 minutes expert tuition for £10 and juniors of 16 years and under it costs £2 for 10 minutes.
